Kim Huoy and her success story working for Thalias Hospitality Group

Thalias Hospitality Group has been a great help for CSH to find internships for our students and to teach them new skills during their experience there. Kim Huoy is one of the example: after successfully achieving her internship in HR, she has been offered another position within the group to continue to grow and develop her skills !

• Can you introduce yourself ? 

My name is Kruy Kimhuoy. I am 22 year old and I am a  college student from the National University of management. I am from the 3rd promotion of Chandara Students Home. Today I work as an intern at Thalia’s group in the HR department. 

•  How did you choose your major ? 

The major that I study is tourism. I chose that major because I am looking forward to the tourists in Cambodia coming back and developing a bit more and more, even if it still complicated with Covid-19. I want to prove that tourism can help develop my country and make it more helpful for the next generation. And I love to travel, like adventure hiking or something that relates to nature, history and hidden places. Sometimes I can’t describe it all but I have a big dream to have my own travel agency or a small resort near the forest or sea. But it’s a dream for now.  

• What did you learn from your past internship in HR? 

Nowadays I work as an intern in Thalia’s Hospitality Group and my position is HR. I learn so many things here. I never knew about HR work before and I am so new about that work but that is my journey in this company. They try to teach me a lot by showing me how it works in different ways and believing in me that I can do it. I know how to manage people, solve problems and find anything new to create or develop in a company.  My team is so kind and care a lot, even when I am sick or have problems. They never leave me alone, they always find a solution and try to help me. I am very thankful to them because they are like Happy Chandara School. I can count on them all the time. 

My internship is coming to an end but the company sees how I am improving and they will propose me a new position as Cost control officer. It is a work I have never done before, like the HR one, but they believe in me and they will train me for that work and to become a full staff in Thalias group. 

• What does Thalias bring you? in your professional life and personal life ?  

I would like to express something about Thalia’s group that gives me a lot in my professional life is to be face to face with many people all around me and solving problems, finding the solution and making everything from big trouble to small things and to nothing. They giving me to be strong enough to do what I never do before to teach me learn a new things open to the social life everyday. To know how people change so fast in a minute and how to change people's mind and help them when they need. They are like happy Chandara that give me something new and make me discover new things. Thank you.

• Where do you see yourself in 5 years ? 

In 5 Year I will and believe in myself I will succeed in this small life, become a strong woman, help women to have work and get a job that fits my major. Or I will change my mind sometime to learn that subject. It doesn't mean that will give me more work but something that we never knew. So I will try my best and I hope I can help my school back.

•  Do you have a sentence or personality that you particularly like ? Does that inspire you ?

My inspiration everyday is me and my mom. I want to success and help her and the words that I use to myself everyday is Be strong believe in yourself and fighting because I was born in a poor family I can’t get anything like other have but I will get it by myself if I don’t believe in myself or I did not strong enough I can’t go on.
