Chim, graduating with a Bachelor in Management and working for PTT Cambodia

Chim, student from the very first promotion at Toutes a l'Ecole, has almost graduated from her university with a Bachelor degree. Like other students at CSH, Chim had a job at the same time as studying and has already started creating a successful career path for herself. Discover more about her job at PTT Ltd.

1. Can you introduce yourself ?  

My name is Chim. I’m a fourth-year student at the National University of Management. I study Management in the evening. Nowadays, I work at PTT (Cambodia) Ltd during the day.

2. Can you introduce PTT Cambodia Ltd ?

PTT (CAMBODIA) LIMITED (PTTCL) is a Thailand - based petroleum company. It is a subsidiary of PTT Public Company Limited in Cambodia and works in very close cooperation with local oil companies, communities, the government and agencies under the strong supports from its parent company, PTT Public Company Limited in Thailand.

3. Can you explain to me concretely your job ? How is a typical day?

I have been working at PTT for one year now. The first day that I started with this work, I felt so nervous because I didn't know anyone else in the company and it was my first time. But very soon, I realized that this work would make my life feel better, especially when I meet with my team and I communicate with other people. 

I applied for a job through a recruitment announcement on their Facebook page and after an interview, I got the job! My position is Ordering Center Officer. One part of the job is called “Master Data”: my team and I focus on Customer Master and Pricing Master. I have to create the customers code of station, for Amazon and 7-eleven mart.  Pricing Master I enter the data in to the system according to the government price set for sale at the station, depending if it is for the wholesale customers, the industrial customers or the aviation customers. I also have to be in contact with the Thai team on a day to day basis which makes it very interesting.

I have learned more experience from my team and the other staff in the company than I could have imagined. With all the problems in front of me, now I always manage to solve them quickly and I get my answer to all the questions have from Thai team. It is a great team work !

4. What is your career long term project ?

In the long term, I want to become a manager in a company: I want to gain an immersive understanding of the practices and to develop the skills needed to succeed in an entry-level project management role. My dream job is Sales Manager and then general manager because I feel most comfortable in a working environment where the responsibility for sales successes and sales targets rests solely on my shoulders. I want to be able to set objectives and to drive my team to achieve them. I really like to work in team and to share my ideas and my experience to my teammates.  

In 5 years more, I wish I can improve more with my life and my job. Especially, I hope that I will be able to help my parents get a better situation and to build a new house for them.

5. Do you have a sentence or personality that you particularly like ? Does that inspire you ?

You must use our knowledge to the best of our ability and always have self-confidence. One last thing that I want to share with the other girls at CSH:  “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world” and “Learning is never done without errors and defeat.”
