What is your academic background ?
My name is Srey Pich Lim, I am 20 years old. I have been at Happy Chandara since 2006. It was the most wonderful year of my life because I had the chance to enter this beautiful school for little girls who come from poor families like me. It is a dream school!
Since November 2019, I am a Bachelor in Agronomy at Royal University of Agriculture in Phnom Penh.

Why did you choose to study agronomy?
I love nature and I would like to work for the development and protection of nature. This passion is linked to another passion: food! I love above all vegetables and fruits, because I want to be healthy.
In Cambodia, farmers use many chemicals, without thinking about the health risks. And since the national agricultural production is not sufficient, our country imports a lot of products. I would like to improve this situation.

What profession do you want to practice later?
Later, I would like to work at the Ministry of Agriculture, to share my knowledge and the techniques I will have learned, with the farmers. I would like Cambodia to export agricultural products of good quality and quantity.
I would like to participate in the development of agronomy, and also to change people's mindset and justice in work.

What is your mission within the Permaculture project of Happy Chandara? How many students are you in the team?
The Permaculture Department is led by Lionel AUROUSSEAU assisted by Ratana.
We are working on several projects: the creation of soaps, the recruitment of families from the village to become vegetable producers for Happy Chandara, recycling, and pedagogy (writing documents).
We are 6 students from the Royal University of Agriculture in Phnom Penh (Mary Phin, Reaksa Heng, Savin Neou, Sreymom Long, Lina Chan and me).
Unfortunately because of the COVID 19 Virus, we can no longer meet the villagers so we are concentrating on writing a Garden Guide Book, to explain the permaculture garden of Happy Chandara.
Personally, I like this work because it is completely related to my Agronomy major. For example, I learned how to make soap. I also find it interesting to work with the villagers.
I learn in an innovative way, thanks to Lionel who proposes new ways of thinking and working.
